Amphibious Defence and Emergency Response Duties
The introduction of our Stern Landing Vessel (SLV) was the result of finding the solution to the range of operational problems present with conventional landing crafts. These problems, well known to operators are:
Poor Head Sea capability.
Poor stability and a track record of many capsizes.
Lack of on-deck deadweight (payload).
Difficulty in debeaching.
Presence of Salt water ballast to keep props immersed.
The SLV was specifically designed to tackle all these issues and more, with the SLV providing excellent head sea capability, an ability to easily beach and debeach, good visibility, no ballast, finer hull shape and total protection of the stern gear.
The SLV provides solutions for harbours with little or no facilities for vessels carrying bulk, passenger, RORO or containerised cargoes.
There are over 22 SLV’s operating, carrying a variety of cargoes such as passengers, cars, cattle, containers and bulk cargo.
